30 guests attended a successful lunchtime event at the offices of Albourne Partners in Victoria. Jessica Ross, our host, generously donated the space and provided tea, coffee and soft drinks.
Peter Burdin, SA-UK Trust Network Trustee chaired the meeting.
The speakers were Kelvin Glen, Director of the Resource Alliance, Milton Nkosi ,former BBC News Africa and South Asia Bureau Chief, and Dr Andrew Venter, CEO of Wild Impact, who all gave very interesting and informative talks.
Kelvin Glen told us more about the annual Resource Alliance IFC in Amsterdam. He provided information about how to access the wealth of material available online to help people from NGOs unable to afford to attend the conference in person, along with information about bursaries available for new attendees.
Milton Nkosi gave a fascinating overview of some of the political and economic challenges facing South Africa at present.
Andrew Venter talked about Wild Impact’s work in southern Africa and showed two short films about Wild Impact projects to provide educational and employment opportunities in severely disadvantaged communities.
Peter Burdin then chaired a round table discussion which raised some interesting questions.
The networking opportunities at the sandwich lunch were greatly appreciated by the attendees.
Most guests arrived punctually and the speakers kept to their allotted time which was much appreciated by the organisers!
